Title

Embrod Village

The Two Wells

Aquaine

You approach the two wells, looking around the village. This gives you a great view of the village, as it is in the center. You find that the two wells are quite elaborate; several people could easily pull water here at one time. There is even a harness, which suggests that some kind of equine probably pulls it for people, too.

"Welcome to Embrod," says a soft voice.

You turn to see a blue fairy, sitting on the far edge of one of the wells. She looks like she is playing with a droplet of water, and you stand back incase she's planning to throw it at you. She giggles before continuing.

"I am Aquaine," she says, "the Fairy of the Wells. I come from deep inside of the Wood, where some of the strongest magic lies. There is and Island, out beyond the sea, and that is where my people stay. I, however, decided to work for the king, and here I am now."

She turns her back to you and smiles. You hear the soft clip-clop, clip-clop from somewhere ... and, sure enough, directly in front of both of you, a creature appears.

Vylin'Ione the Lainie

"Welcome, Vylin'Ione," Aquiane says softly. She turns to you, "The Embrod Wells supply water for more than just the residents here. Creatures from all over come to use our water. Vylin'Ione doesn't need it, of course, he has magical powers. But he does come with a message."

The creature eyes you suspiciously, then turns towards Aquaine again, stomping his cloven hooves against the hard earth.

She nods a bit, then smiles. "He thinks you'd make a fine warrior for the cause," she says. "And that you should go to the castle."

The creature turns to you again, but this time his eyes are not suspicous. Instead, they are clear and soft, and he lowers his antlers at you and steps back and forth, almost in a dance. You turn to Aquaine, hoping for some answers.

"He is a Laine, and long ago decided to speak only to a select few of us here in the wood." She smiles. "The deer of Allonia are like that, even when they leave their homeland they trust few people. His speed and stealth have earned him his name, Divine Illusion."

And, sure enough, when you turn to thank him, he is gone.

"Don't worry, wanderor, he is not afraid of you, but he did tell me to tell you to go to the castle."

You shrug, "How do I get there?"

The fairy smiles. "I thought you'd never ask! Leave the village and head for the lead path, then take the road that leads to the caves. I'm not sure exactly where, but they should lead you to the maze. Make your way through that, and I believe some of the residents here can help you with that, and you'll get to the castle."

After hearing the directions, a small rumble is heard from within the well that the fairy is sitting on. She looks down and sighs, "The other guardian would like to meet you."
